Indications

The use of the ultrasonic surgical device in the operating theatre has several indications. The ultrasonic device can treat poor nasal breathing if this is due to a deviated nasal septum, hypertrophy of the nasal turbinates, and certain cases of nasal polyps.

Restoring adequate breathing through the nose is the first step in treating snoring and apneic episodes during sleep. In more severe cases, uvulopharyngoplasty can be carried out by the use of the ultrasonic device. The operation relates to the soft palate and uvula in the mouth and oropharynx.

One of the causes for snoring and sleep apnea are hypertrophic tonsils. With the ultrasonic device we can shrink tonsils under local anesthesia.

Besides their size, tonsils are our concern because of frequent infections (purulent tonsillitis) and as a cause of oral malodor. Our ultrasound device enables us to clean, sterilize, and obliterate the crypts of the tonsils, which are the initial foci of inflammation and bad breath.
